What Does the Bible say about some of these
everyday issuses?
Money - But godliness with contentment is
great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But
if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich
fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men
into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some
people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many
griefs. (1 Timothy 6:6-10)
Whoever loves money never has money enough;
whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless. (Ecclesiastes 5:10)
"No one can serve two masters.
Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and
despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. (Matthew 6:24)
People who want to get rich fall into temptation
and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and
destruction. (1 Timothy 6:9)
Murder
- "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago,
'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject
to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca, ' is answerable to the
Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell. "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there
remember that your brother has something against you, leave
your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then
come and offer your gift. "Settle matters quickly with
your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way,
or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and
you may be thrown into prison. I tell you the truth, you will
not get out until you have paid the last penny. (Matthew
5:21-26)
Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one
and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were
evil and his brother's were righteous. (1 John 3:12)
Overcoming Temptation - Then
Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After
fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said,
"If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Jesus answered,
"It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from
the mouth of God.'" Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the
highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw
yourself down. For it is written: "'He will command his angels concerning you, and
they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a
stone.'" Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God
to the test.'" Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all
the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. "All this I will give you," he
said, "if you will bow down and worship me." Jesus said to him, "Away from
me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'" Then
the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. (Matthew
4:1-11)
"Watch and pray so that you
will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." (Matthew 26:41)
No temptation has seized you except what is common
to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But
when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Paying Taxes - This is also why you pay taxes. For rulers are God's
servants faithfully devoting themselves to their work.Pay everyone whatever you owe
them-taxes to whom taxes are due, tolls to whom tolls are due, fear to whom fear is due,
honor to whom honor is due. (Romans 13: 6-7) |
